The Newton Abbot Ukulele Club was founded in 2008. The Club has expanded over the years and we now have members from all walks of life and all age groups. We practice at the Old Rydon Inn every Wednesday between 18:30 (for 19:00) and 21:00. Many members attend every week - others come when they can, but we all get a lot of pleasure through playing the ukulele together. We are a diverse group and welcome players of all abilities. We also welcome non-players who just want to sing along! Our songs range from hits from the 1920’s right up to present day and we encourage all members to bring in new or old songs and suggestions.
On the first Wednesday of the month we have what has become known as an 'Open Mike Night' where members voluntarily play solo, to showcase their own skills on the ukulele and at the same time, inspire other members. All purely for fun and our own entertainment. On that first Wednesday of the month, we also try to support our local food bank.
Club membership fees are just £12 per year and we practice every week, apart from the two Wednesdays around Christmas & New year.
